The Lochranza Distillery
Description: Nestled on the shores of Loch na Davie, in the picturesque village of Lochranza, lies the Isle of Arran’s first distillery. Production began almost 30 years ago, and since then the distillery has gone on to produce a wide range of award-winning whiskies. The proximity to the loch provides the distillery with a very special source of fresh water for distilling, which helps to create the unique taste and character of Arran whisky. In 2019, a second distillery was opened in the south of the island at Lagg, where a very unique style of peated single malt is made. The two distilleries now offer visitors a chance to try Arran’s whisky in all its different styles, from the light and fruity Highlands whiskies to the rich and smoky Islay whiskies. Whether you’re a whisky connoisseur or a novice, there’s something for everyone at Lochranza Distillery.

Review:
I recently had the chance to visit the Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran, and I was really impressed with the operation. The distillery is located in a beautiful setting, nestled against a loch and surrounded by mountains. The tour was very informative, and I learned a lot about the distilling process. The highlight for me was the tasting at the end, where I got to try several of the distillery’s products. The Lochranza whisky was my favorite – it had a smooth, peaty flavor that I really enjoyed. Overall, I had a great experience at the Lochranza Distillery and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about whisky.
