Saltwater Gallery, Cladach: Exploring the Maritime Masterpieces
Nestled in the heart of the scenic ‘Cladach’ cluster on the Isle of Arran, the Saltwater Gallery beckons art enthusiasts and sea lovers alike.
Conveniently located behind the popular ‘Wineport’ bar/restaurant and at the gateway to the Goatfell path and castle garden walks, this newly renovated space was once the laundry building for Brodick Castle.
Now transformed into a contemporary art gallery, Saltwater Gallery promises a captivating experience for those who appreciate the beauty of the sea and coastal life.
Contemporary Maritime Art Wonderland:
Saltwater Gallery showcases an array of original paintings, jewelry, ceramics, glass, and prints, capturing the essence of island life and the sea. The gallery invites you to explore the works of talented artists who draw inspiration from the ever-changing moods of the ocean.
Meet the Artists:
Immerse yourself in the oceanic wonders through Senja Brendon’s vibrant paintings. With a profound connection to the sea, Senja’s art reflects the vast skies, crashing waves, and wild coastlines. Whether painted on location or in the studio, each piece resonates with the energy of the elements, offering a personal and soulful experience.
Specializing in hand-painted ceramic tiles, Esther Cohen captures the ever-changing skies along the coast near Edinburgh and East Lothian. Her unique process involves using ceramic underglaze, drawing, photography, and digital techniques, resulting in highly individual and atmospheric creations.
Living and working on Arran for over two decades, Heather Macleod’s art reflects the beauty of the local landscape. Known for her intense use of colours achieved through layers of dye on silk canvas, her recent exploration of oil and acrylic paintings adds new dimensions to her work, capturing the essence of island life.
Born in Lanark, Scotland, Kris McKinnon’s journey through various mediums has led to bold, vibrant, and textured abstract landscapes. His art, influenced by his homeland, showcases a versatile and unrestricted approach, offering a visual feast for art enthusiasts.
Award-winning Swiss-born artist Pascale Rentsch draws and paints en plein air, capturing nature and the elements spontaneously and instinctively. Her art reflects the hope and beauty found in the Scottish countryside, hills, and coastlines, transcending practical challenges to create expressive pieces.
