The Accommodation:
The Runach Arainn glamping site has three yurts available two 20ft yurts that sleep up to 6 people and one 18ft that sleeps 4 people.
The yurts are spacious and private, offering you a luxurious glamping experience the yurts are built in Scotland but are styled as a traditional Mongolian round dwelling structure.
Highland Yurts hand-built each of the yurts using larch wood. Lighting within yurt is provided by means of solar powered lights which means it can be a little dim during the gloomier months. It is probably worth bringing a torch or two.
The two larger yurts contain a Luxury double bed and two double futons / sofa bed. The smaller yurt just has the bed and two single futon beds. All bedding, towels, crockery, and cooking utensils are provided for you so all you need to bring is an adventurous attitude and yourself and your clothes of course.
The Yurts have their own outdoor sitting area with a picnic bench where you can sit and enjoy the stunning views of the island scenery.
The yurts can be heated with a central wood burning stove which doubles at a cooker. The yurts are insulated to keep the heat in during the winter months.

The Campsite
The grounds at Runach Arainn Glamping are set in a lush green orchard and has stunning views across the surrounding landscape, with the Scottish Highlands as its backdrop.
Along with the yurts the orchard contains the bathroom block. This block houses private bathrooms for each yurt block these contain a room with shower and a composting toilet. There is also a communal laundry and a sink room with a washing machine, a fridge, microwave, and kettle.
The campsite has activities for the kids too, with a den building area and an area with a prebuilt willow den. There is also a food forest garden and an Herb Garden where you are free to grab a bit of rosemary for your evening meal.
Chickens, ducks, geese, and bees are all kept on the owner’s land and there is usually a supply of beautiful fresh eggs and homemade honey. We loved seeing them wandering around the site.
The site is not accessible by vehicles which makes it a safer place to let your children roam.
The Location
The Isle of Arran is situated in the in the southwest of Scotland, a short ferry ride away from the port of Ardrossan, which is about an hour’s drive from Glasgow. It enjoys stunning views across the surrounding landscape, with the Scottish Highlands as its backdrop.
The nearby village hamlet of Kilmory offers a pub (The Lagg Hotel) and the Velo Cafe where you can eat is about a ten-minute walk away. The site is also a fifteen-minute walk from the two miles long sandy Torrylinn beach.
The nearest store is in the town of Blackwaterfoot, which located about a fifteen-minute drive away.
From the site there is also direct access from the site onto local forestry tracks which are great for walks or cycling.
Activities in the Area
There are plenty of things to do in the local area, whatever the weather and season. During winter, you can go ice climbing and snowboarding. During spring, summer, and autumn, you can go mountain biking, hiking, and fishing.
There are magnificent gardens and castles nearby, including Brodick Castle with it renowned gardens. If you’re looking to try something a bit different, you can visit the ancient Scottish stones at Machrie or try horseback riding.
